The above words and images have taught me a lot about this genre. I can visually see how the genre has develop over time and understand how sub genres have emerged within this genre. Horror is dynamic and is always changing. This has given me a lot of flexibility with my initial ideas, some of which have been inspired by the above images. I can see how make up has been used to make horror more horrific and effective compared to how it used to be in the nineteenth century. Horror used to appeal to a limited audience because there were no such things as special effects, green screens and gross funding. You can see in the early image of Frankienstien that he is physically designed to scare the viewers as producers played upon audiences weaknesses. A weakness of this era was that people considered ugly or disabled people to be "freaks" which is why the producers of Frankenstein create such a hideous monster. However today horror seems to be more physiological than physical as most of the well know horror killers are not hulking monsters anymore but much more human and real, which gives way to the possibility of it happening to the viewer and existing in the real world making the audiences feel a lot more vulnerable.
