In our film we shall use a kitchen knife as a prop in one of the scene's. We chose to use a kitchen knife as our weapon as it is a plausible weapon for someone to easily find in an ordinary house. The knife is also considered some what of a sinister weapon and is iconic in the horror genre especially in the slasher sub genre, which is one of the reasons why we chose to use it.
We will use the knife prop in the nightmare sequence where the protagonist dreams of her parents death as the tool used to kill her parents, we will have multiple shots of the knife being held and one with the knife dripping with blood.
We will use the knife prop in the nightmare sequence where the protagonist dreams of her parents death as the tool used to kill her parents, we will have multiple shots of the knife being held and one with the knife dripping with blood.
Another prop we shall use will be fake blood, primarily for the nightmare sequence in our opening two minutes. We shall look for some tutorials to create some fake blood of our own to use. This blood shall be used sparingly only on areas that shall have great effect for example on the knife and on the throats of the dead parents to reveal how they died.We feel that blood will help set a dark tone for the film and show how its meant for a mature audience onto of which blood is like the knife in how iconic it is to horror films.
We will also use a wooden dining chair as a prop in our opening as in one of the scene's we will see two people bound to these chairs, again we used house hold objects as it makes the murders seem unplanned and rush as well as some what crude.
We shall use a bed throughout the two minute opening of our film. What we feel will make the use of the bed so effective is that a bed is seen as a place of security and by making it the scene of horror we are making people feel vulnerable as there is no safe secure place to hide. We also feel that by showing the parents in the a sleep it shows how vulnerable they actually are and how unaware and defenseless they are to the danger of there daughter.
A clock shall be used in our horror movie to both establish the time present at that scene and also to show a passage of time with the scene's. Through the use of the clock we can reveal that the time in our opening scene will be 12pm which we feel is a iconic time used throughout the horror genre. The shot featuring the clock will only be short as we feel that we do not need much time to establish the time of the scene.
